Attached is a picture and some information regarding the new kit for our youth players at U13/14 age group. We hope that this will get published to help raise awareness of the rugby club in Dumfries . In turn hopefully we will get more new players and attract new sponsors / kit providers.
The following was written by the man who got the ball rolling . This was very generous of these men and much appreciated by all at Dumfries Saints Rugby Club.
A little while ago a bunch of 9 elderly, former rugby players met up to see if they could club together to provide something tangible for Dumfries Saints RugbyClub, to show their support for, and thanks to the Saints for the pride and pleasure they give to the town, and for their great work in introducing so many youngsters to the joys of rugby, to development of skills and to the magic of team spirit.
After some discussion between the veterans’ leader Tom Aitken and Saints Junior Vice President and under 13/14 team coach Stuart Clanachan, it was decided to provide warm substitutes coats for these youngsters. It can be very cold standing on the touch line, raring to go but not sure if and when you might be called on!
The project came to fruition last Sunday, when the coats were presented to the teams. Our photograph shows some of the veterans in the back row, team members wearing the new jacket in the middle row, and, in the front row, Tom Aitken handing a jacket over to U14s team captain Lewis Fergusson.
