Micro and Mini Section End of Season Fun Night and Awards

On Wednesday, 15th May both the micro and mini sections had a fun session and awards presentation to bring the 2018/19 rugby season to a close.

The coaches for the micro teams created a fantastic obstacle course consisting of various tunnels, ramps, see-saws, pallet stacks and of course there had to be the slippery slide.  The kids had a fantastic time completing multiple laps.  After the fun session there was a presentation of Player of Year which was deservedly awarded to Howie Jardine from P3.  Well done Howie.

The mini teams were mixed up and divided into teams playing games of rugby rounders, dizzy races and jail break then culminating in the traditional, highly competitive sprint races.

The highlight of the fun session has got to be the slip and slide run.  It’s amazing how a simple sheet of plastic, water and washing up liquid can create so many joyful faces with bucket loads of fun and laughter.  A brilliant time for all players, siblings, parents and coaches. A big thank you to the Festival trophy sponsors who attended and presented the winning players with their trophies;

Chris from C Wood Plastering
Jim from J & S Ross, Romesbeoch Galloways
Senga from Akers Garage, and
Kirsty from Ark Vet Centre

Our Rugby Festival had to be cancelled this season due to wintry weather.  Having moved the date for next seasons to the end of March hopefully we will have more spring like weather and finally get the chance to present these fantastic trophies.

Finally, from me, I would like to thank all players for coming to training and taking part in games, in all sorts of weather and most importantly enjoying being part of the Rugby Club.  The coaches for their help and support throughout the season and the many parents for continually helping with the various jobs and by supporting our fundraising activities.

Enjoy the next few months break
