Much-improved Saints pushed Cartha all the way
Saints 1st XV suffered a 26pts to 10pts defeat to RBS Championship Div.A leaders Cartha Queens Park RFC on Saturday – but the over-all performance was much-improved on recent weeks. With a continuing huge number of senior players injured and unavailable, the Saints did more than keep the visitors on back foot for long periods of play.
Saints pack showed excellent rucking play which troubled the League leaders throughout the game.
Saints showed an enterprising variety of play – mixing up excellent forwards’ rucking and driving with back-line running. Especially encouraging was the much-improved home defence which gave Cartha little room for scoring. In fact, Cartha only sealed their victory with a late try as the young Saints team tired when facing into strong driving wind and rain.
Team coaches are confident that the team has turned the corner and we should start to secure the points needed to climb to a more-deserving position in the table.
Keep up the good work, lads!
