Saints on fire at Falkirk.
Falkirk 15pts : 41pts Saints
Saints 1s travelled to Falkirk for their final away encounter of the season in Tennents National League Div. 2.
A slow start from Saints combined with a strong headwind resulted in Falkirk flying into a 10pt lead, after 15mins, courtesy of two unconverted tries.
Saints responded with some slick passing and continuity play to put Craig Goldie over for Saints first try. Birdsall missed the conversion but added a penalty on 25mins to reduce the arrears to 10–8. Falkirk hit back just before the break scoring from a driving lineout maul, conversion missed
Saints harnessed the wind well from the start of the second half gaining field position before employing their trademark fast multiphase play.
This resulted in Sam Hiddleston and Goldie scoring two quick tries, one converted, leaving the visitors ahead at 20:15. Hiddleston added another following some excellent Saints hands. A penetrating run from winger Jack Currie then followed which put his conterpart, on the other wing, Rob Neill in for a try. Saints were now in total control and Hiddleston benefitted from quality distribution, by Miller and Strain, to score his hatrick, and the teams sixth try to record a comfortable victory to remain in fourth position in the league with two matches remaining.
Falkirk awarded Saints scrum-half Alan Birdsall ” Most influential Player ” for his performance in a very good all-round team display in which Nathan Brown made his debut for Saints 1s.
