Short and sweet match report from Aberdeen
Playing into a strong wind Dumfries did well to contain Gordonians and went into half time 0-0 with neither side really threatening each other’s line. The second half started quickly and Dumfries Saints took the lead with Sam Hiddleston crashing over after coming off the bench. Conversion by Jack Steele. Gordonians responded with a well worked try of their own in the corner, conversion missed to make in 5-7.
Saints went down the other end immediately and after a number of penalties captain Ewan miller crosses in the corner. Conversion was missed and Saints led 5-12. Again Gordonians fought their way back into the game and scored to make it 10-12. The relatively easy conversion hit the post. With 6 minutes left Jack Steele made a break and rounded the full back to score under the posts and then converted his own try to make it 10-19 and give Saints some breathing space. The last 6 minutes were hard fought but saints hung on for the win.
