The Covid-19 virus has brought significant challenges to the club, our community, and our nation during the past year. We’ve suffered furlough, financial hardship, social distancing, lockdown and, of course, no rugby!
We have been reminded how important sport, exercising and socialising is for our physical and mental wellbeing yet sport and socialising have been denied us for months on end in the attempt to defeat the dreaded virus. Instead of rugby banter in the clubhouse while enjoying a pint, our conversation lately has been limited to “have you had your jab yet?
However, there is light at the end of the tunnel as lockdown is gradually easing and our thoughts are turning to the new rugby season. The players themselves, juniors and seniors, are raring to get some rugby action.
The club has survived the lockdowns thanks to a lot of willing helpers. We recognise the tremendous support we have had from our members, non-playing and playing, who have paid their membership fees throughout the pandemic and received next to nothing in return.
All our sponsors too have been understanding and accommodating during these difficult months.
On behalf of the club I would like to thank all of you for the unwavering loyalty and support you have provided during the past few months and now look forward to welcoming you back to Park Farm at the beginning of the season for some much needed competitive rugby and rugby banter.
