Saints U15 77 – Wigtownshire 0

The U-15 squad in their new strips - presented by presented by John Gilligan, Branch Manager for sponsor SBS.Dumfries played host to Wigtownshire in their first game of 2015. The Saints were delighted with their new shirts which were presented by John Gilligan, Branch Manager for sponsor SBS.

A lovely clear but cold day saw the visitors kick off. Scrappy, rusty play and an exchange of penalties were all that marked the first few minutes then Elliot Gorman picked up a superb pass from Andrew Little to score in the corner.  This settled the team down.   Cailin Renwick tore down the left wing to again score in the corner.  Gareth McHugh was next on the score sheet.   Great rucking from Fergus Hiddleston and Nathan Brown resulted in great fieSaints strong rucking and driving never allowed the Wigtownshire visitors to settle into a gameld position for Adrian Robinson to score under the posts.

Andrew was next to score from a pass from scrum half Jack Roberts.  Dumfries Saints now held a healthy lead by half time.  Captain Gavin Wilson scored the first of 2 tries with an unanswered run from his own 22.  Finn (the ram) Mitchell scored his first club try with a crunching battering run from 10 yards out.  As he crossed the line 4 Wigtownshire defenders could not stop him.

Elliot again scored with great inter linking play from the back allowing him to break almost 40 yards to score.  After a long injury lay off Owen Davies returned playing No.6 he was like a rock in the back row.   BJ Cowley broke through the middle to pass out wide to Owen who clinically scored under the posts. The visitors had little chance of catching this flying SaintSaints strong running always had the visitors on the back foot

Gavin again scored and added a 5th conversion of the day.  Not so ‘Wiggy’ Scott McLellan rounded of a fantastic day for the Saints Under 15 with a score in the corner with Andrew adding the conversion.

A really great showing from the lads who have now notched up 230 pts in their last 4 games. Are these going to be the stars of the future for ‘the big Saints’?
