P6/7 at Cumnock Tournament

The Saints team was – front row Euan, Gregor and Campbell – 2nd row David, and Adam – No9 Alex – No10 Pete (c) – backs Sam and Kyle and wing Arron – with subs Blair, Ross, Dean and Hamish.

Dumfries played 4 matches in the tournament.

1st game against Strathaven – they won by 3 tries to nil.  The tries came from Gregor, Kyle and Euan with a great performance by scrum half and man of the match Alex. Good passing and support play from the boys got them off to an ideal start in the tournament.

The 2nd against Cumnock ended in a 3-all draw. Saints came back in the last 3 minutes to secure a well earned draw thanks to the effort of Gregor who made a fantastic charge down with his face to prevent Cumnock clearing from their 5 metre line. Solid defence and excellent tackling from Arron, David and Sam prevented Cumnock scoring more tries.

Try scorers Pete, Euan 2 with captain Pete being awarded man of the match.

The 3rd against Garnock with the Saints winning by a resounding 5 nil. Try scorers David, Euan 2 ,Gregor and one of the newest recruits Dean. David played an outstanding game putting in some serious tackles and also to score a try which earned him with the man of the match award. Good teamwork from everyone made this an exciting game.

The 4th against Irvine – Saints won 5-0.  A resounding success with the Saints showing much superior attacking, defence, handling and tackling skills. Sam putting in some excellent tackling throughout the game. Dean scored a hat trick of tries to help seal the Saints win. Other scorers were David and Kyle who earned the man of the match.

Saints p6/7 team are still holding on to their record this season of no games lost and only 3 tries scored against them. The team is coming on well under coaches Tom, Jim and Cammy.  Everyone has played outstandingly so far, with a great team effort.
