Magic Micros

The Saints Micros attended Moffat Tournament last Sunday 11th May, with a combined P1/P2 and 2 teams of P3’s, with spare players. Firstly Pete Hannah (Coach) would like to thank George WF, Finlay S and Robbie for volunteering to assist Stewartry by boosting their numbers as they only arrived with 5 players – very honourable and noble of these boys.

P1/2 played 3 matches against Stewartry, Moffat and Biggar. This young team are gaining experience and this is only their second competitive tournament. They did very well and competed in every match. A super job by coach of the day Steve Philips, who stepped in at last minute to assist.

P3 entered 2 teams as we had a generous pack of players (19), and it was difficult to split the teams, so we selected a Dumfries A and Dumfries B (Blues). Dumfries Blues played 3 games and won 1 of 3. A superb performance from these P3’s and mention to try scorer Ethan Anderson as Blues player of the day.

P3 A team won every game and beat Stewartry, then beat Moffat (who beat us last year 11-3) and Biggar. A’s were to play Blues, but coaches felt they needed resting to play Final versus Stewartry. Dumfries A beat Stewartry 3-1 in final. A superb day out for all Micros and special mention to the winners, as this is a convincing result to go undefeated in a tournament. Coach Pete Hannah said ” We are delighted for all the P1-P3 boys and The Parents as this is a memorable day. These young players are gaining knowledge and confidence every time they touch the ball – what a great result!!” Also, thank you to Alec Bryden for assisting with the P3’s.
