Club President praises effort by Saints v Hamilton Bulls

Injury problems still dominate – but young Saints do well

After last week’s league defeat by the Bulls, Saints returned to Hamilton for a cup tie again on Saturday 9th November. Despite going down again – this time by 36pts to 12 –

Club President Donald Brown heaped praise on the Saints squad after Saturday’s match.  “Our injury list is still dominating squad selection each week. Altogether, 42 players have been fielded for the 1st XV so far this season.  Hamilton1

It’s not all bad news ….. in that we used this game to introduce more young players and the young lads came through with flying colours against the more experienced Bulls.  They gave a better account of themselves than the end scoreline suggests”.

Hamilton2“The one bit of bad news is that the injury problems have been exacerbated by the injury to Nathan de Pasqual who was carried off with a suspected broken leg.  Nathan – from Australia – has only been with us for a matter of weeks and was settling in well with the rest of the squad.  We are waiting for confirmation on his injury, but it looks as though he’ll be out for a good few weeks.  We wish him well for a speedy recovery”.
