STEWARTRY S1’s 38 DUMFRIES S1’s 29

Dumfries travelled to Stewartry after weeks of training to test their progress against Stewartry who are at a similar stage of development. It turned out to be very close with Stewartry scoring in the last seconds to take the game. Dumfries were dominant in the scrums with the front row of Jack McHenry, Callum Jackson and Ben Herries, supported by Josh Ferguson and Elliot Scott, and Edward Jackson in the No. 8 position, totally dominant and it was very frustrating that the referee kept re setting everytime Dumfries won the ball against the head.

Dumfries were again dominant in lineouts with Reece Morrow drafted in from the wing because of his height winning everything. However some strange decisions were frustrating for the boys.

The game was played in 3 sections of 20 minutes, Stewartry led each section until the last period when Dumfries finally drew level and looked like they could win the game. Some strange refereeing decisions however gave Stewartry the ball and eventually the clinching score came.

Terrific run in tries from Reece Morrow (2) Jack Pybus, Edward Jackson and terrific strength from Matthew McIlorum to score, two conversions from Ryan Sarahs brought up the score to 29points.

A fantastic performance none the less, and the improvement has been fantastic since the last outing, tackling in particular from Matthew McIlorum and Jack Pybus was terrific.

Next game v Cumnock at home, Sunday 15 November, kick off time to be confirmed.
