Success for Saints Minis at Biggar

Some fantastic rugby was on show from the young Dumfries Saints teams at the Biggar Mini Rugby Festival on Sunday 8th September.  All age groups played well against strong opposition including Melrose, Currie, East Kilbride, Watsonians, Boroughmuir, Stirling County and Biggar. Dumfries Saints Mini’s played with their usual commitment and team work, showing some great skills and all having a lot of fun. Our new players were welcomed into the teams and enjoyed their first tournament as part of the Dumfries Saints family. All our players made coaches and supporters proud and were great ambassadors for our club. In their first competitive outing and first game involving full contact, the Primary 4 team brought home the trophy for scoring most tries in their section. Our small squad of P7’s showed great effort and determination against serious opposition and the Primary 5’s and 6’s showed consistent good form, coming out tops in games in their sections. Well done to all the players and coaches for good rugby and to the travelling supporters for positive encouragement from the side lines.

Anyone interested in coming along and joining in can try out rugby at training sessions at Park Farm on Wednesday nights from 6-7pm and Sunday mornings from 10-11am. Boys and girls from P4 – P7 welcome. Our micro section (P1-P3) also have fun sessions on a Wednesday night from 6-7pm at Park Farm. All welcome
