Cumnock S1/2 v Dumfries S1/2

SUNDAY 22nd SEPTEMBER
Cumnock S1 v Dumfries/Dalziel S1
The Dumfries S1 boys combined with the Dalziel S1 boys and played in a blue strip.  The boys took a while to gel as a combined team with unknown team mates but once in their stride proved a formidable force.  Edward Martin scored the first try for Dumfries/Dalziel with a great run from the half way line but unfortunately the Dalziel player was not able to make the conversion.  By half time Cumnock had scored 3 tries with 2 conversions and one try from Dumfries/Dalziel.  In the second half Dalziel player, Jordan, scored a try but again the conversion eluded them.  After great play from the Dumfries/Dalziel side Andrew Neil scored under the posts with Finlay McMaster completing the conversion.  It was a great game well played for a team who had never played together before but they were not quite a match for the Cumnock team and the score finished at Cumnock 45 – 24 Dumfries/Dalziel.

Cumnock S2 v Dumfries/Dalziel S2
Dumfries Saints S2 team had a very enjoyable away trip to Cumnock last weekend.  They joined forces with Dalziel ‘Dragons’ S2 to field a starting 15.  The ‘Saintly Dragons’ looked as if they had always played together and as Cumnock kicked off, once again Captain Gavin Wilson caught the ball and scored. The away side never let Cumnock settle into their game.  Great tackling and rucking ensured and Cumnock would not come close to scoring.  BJ Cowley scored a hat trick of tries.  He was like lightning down the wings.  Scrum half Jack Roberts with a jinky run of 2 feet powered over the line.  Scott McLellan scored with Gavin completing his hat trick.  Dalziel players also scored with some excellent conversions to make the final score Cumnock 0 – 68 Dumfries/Dalziel.

Cumnock S1/2 v Dumfries S1/2
S1/2 joined up to play the equivalent Cumnock side for a 20 minute development game.   The Saints were all over Cumnock from the start.  Elliot Gorman burst through for the first try.  Jack Bain ran almost the length of the pitch to score under the posts.  BJ scored twice to give him a 5 try haul for the day. Gavin, Edward Martin and Finlay McMaster completed 4 conversions between them making the final score Dumfries 5 tries to
Cumnock’s 2.
