Top of the league Saints started well and took a 12-0 lead after ten minutes through
tries from Lee Scott and Rob Neill.
Hamilton came back strongly to lead 12-13. Saints then went ahead through a
superb offloading try from their own half finished off by stand off Jordan Kerr which
was converted. Then after a slick move by the backs Bobby Douglas got his 6th try
of the season to give Saints a 24-13 lead at half time.
Bulls started the second half strongly and scored under the posts after lots of
phases. Saints also lost Lee Scott to the sin bin after repeated penalties. 24-20 to
Saints. Substitute Birdsall slotted a penalty for Saints to extend their lead. Dumfries
defended their line for the next ten minutes and eventually Hamilton broke through in
the corner to score. They missed the conversion and it was 27-25 to Saints with 20
minutes left.
After repeated phases Dumfries added another penalty through Birdsall to extend
the lead to 30-25. With ten minutes left Saints scored another well worked try with on
form Bobby Douglas getting his 7th of the season to make it 35-25. Saints defended
well before scoring with the final play of the game through number 8 Callum Smith
with Birdsall adding the extras. Final score 42-25.
