These 2 teams met 4 weeks ago for a cup game in Glasgow with Saints securing a 59 : 10 win, so on a home pitch, looking excellent despite the recent rains and in perfect weather conditions the home side took to the field with a confidence befitting the league leaders.

Right from the start Saints dominated possession with a good run by winger Andrew Whiteford getting behind the defence for stand off Jordan Kerr to finish. The conversion was missed, 5 : 0. The next Andrew Whiteford run was stopped by a high tackle that led to the Accies full back spending 10 minutes in the bin.

From a 5 metre scrum Saints were awarded a penalty which No 8 Calum Smith tapped and carried over the line. The conversion was missed, 10 : 0. Saints were dominating the scrummage and from an Accies put in on half way Saints pushed them over their own ball which Calum Smith picked up and drove forward feeding winger Robert Neill into space to run it to the line. The conversion was missed 15 : 0. With Accies back to 15 men Saints were awarded a 5m scrum which they pushed over for No 8 Callum Smith to touch down the bonus point try, Jack Steele kicked the conversion to take the score to 22 : 0.

The game levelled off for a while as Accies secured some possession but Saints defence was solid and they cleared their lines cleanly. At the end of the half Saints had some good continuity of possession and sucked in the Accies defence for a wide ball to Andrew Whiteford giving him an unopposed run in. The conversion was missed and the half time score was 27 : 0.

There was no let up from Saints in the second half with a 5 metre scrum being disrupted illegally the referee awarded a penalty try, 34 : 0. A catch and drive from a line out led to a third try for Calum Smith and an easy run in from Andrew Whiteford gave him his second try. An excellent period of great handling and offloading was finished off by Ryan Cruikshank. Alan Birdsall converted taking the score to 51 : 0.

Jack Steele burst through a gap on halfway for Robert Neill to finish off for his second try and from a scrum half way inside the Accies 22 Sam Hiddleston entered the line at pace from Full back to finish under the posts. The final conversion was kicked by Jack Steele and the final score 63 : 0.

With 4 games played top of the league Saints are 4 from 4 but have only played teams in the bottom 5. There will be harder games to come starting next week with an away trip to Hamilton.
