The late Duncan Murray

With sadness we announce the passing of Duncan Murray last week at the age of 55 years. Duncan was the youngest son of the late Lilian and the late Duncan Murray Snr (Chunky) who was a well respected past President of the club.
Duncan Murray Jnr was a gifted ball player and an outstanding full-back for Dumfries. He was a very strong and quick runner ball in hand, secure under the high ball and a monstrous boot, both out of hand, and at goal, regularly converting from his own half.  He was top points scorer several times and played for an SRU President’s XV at the Greenyards at Melrose.  Duncan was a very talented player and always believed he was a better player than older brother Dougie! But it has to be mentioned that training did not fit well into Duncan’s love of rugby!
He was a clever lad and and qualified as a Chef then later on took a degree in Engineering and worked on many projects across Scotland.
Duncan’s cortege will pass through Park Farm around 11am on Wednesday 8th September for anyone wishing to pay their respects since the funeral is family only.
The Murray’s have a long association with the club and, at this sad time, our thoughts and condolences go to Duncan’s two daughters Danielle and Nicolle, his three grandchildren Lucas, Olivia and Josie and his brothers Alan and Dougie.
