P4 at Annan Festival
On Sunday the 1st December at Violetbank it was a lovely sunny day for the Annan mini tournament.
The p4s played in a round robin format playing Moffat and Langholm twice.
Up first for the Saints was Langholm and it was a close game with Dumfries running out winners by 4 tries to 2. Tries by stewart Roberts (2) and Fergus Clanachan (2). Tackling was greatly improved with Kerr Hamilton and Calum trotter starting to come onto a bit of form.
Next up was Moffat. Dumfries stood off a bit too much in this game and let Moffat get an early 2 nil lead. Things soon turned around and Fergus scored 3 tries and the game finished 3 -2 to the Saints. Craig Mcwilliam put in try saving tackles at the end of the game which was a big relief to the Saints team.
Dumfries played Langholm again and could only manage a 2 all draw. Tries from Stewart and Fergus. Scott Murray playing his second ever game was showing great potential running well and passing out the tackle.
The last game was against Moffat again and by now the Saints were a little tired and lost 7 tries to 5 in a highly entertaining game. Kier Paterson scored a great try breaking from a ruck and running up the wing. Fergus scored the other 4 tries. Stewart was unlucky not to score after a great mazy run he got caught just short of the line.
A great day was had by all, with the young team improving week on week .
