It is with the deepest regret that we announce the death of one of our young rugby players, Jay Burns, who tragically died at the weekend as the result of a car accident the previous week.
Jay played his first game for the Colts during the 2017-18 season and was a popular member of the team who never let his disability stop him from playing the game he loved. Needless to say, that same season, he was the much deserved winner of the Club’s Spirit of Rugby award.
His coach, Bryan McLellan, paid tribute to the young player: “Jay was a well liked and respected young man who was mad keen on his rugby and always first to say he was available to play. Jay was small in stature but very big in heart and he will be sadly missed.”
Our heartfelt thoughts go out to Jay’s family, friends and teammates in this time of sorrow. We are deeply sorry for your loss and offer our sincere condolences at this sad time.
