Colts win through to National Bowl final

Dumfries Colts took on Musselburgh in the middle of a rain and sleet storm at Park Farm on Saturday.  After having to move pitches because of the standing water the game finally kicked off with Dumfries playing into the article conditions.

The tactics of pick and drive proved the way forward but the lads were getting frustrated by getting penalised for ‘going off their feet’.  However two first half tries by Alex Craig and Ross Hunter after fantastic forward play knocked the stuffing out of the visitors.

A quick sprint to the changing rooms at half time to warm up and shirt change gave them a psychological advantage and after two quick tries from Kyle Lindsay from a scrum move started by Owen Young and a quick tap penalty from Lee Scott Musselburgh conceded and the game ended after ten minutes of the half.

Final score Saints 20 – Musselburgh 0

A delighted Coach Rab McHenry said after ” the boys were absolutely fantastic in the first half in horrible conditions, probably the best we have played all season”

The Bowl final will be against Hawick Wanderers at Lasswade on Sunday 16 February.
