Our Project

Dumfries Saints Rugby Club have undertaken an ambitious programme to develop a team of eight to ten highly skilled UKCC Level 2 Qualified Coaches to deliver curricular and extra curricular rugby sessions in 5 local Secondary Schools and their Primary School feeder Hubs.

The Coach Education Programme will involve Level 1 and Level 2 UKCC Coaching Courses, First Aid Courses, Safeguarding Courses, Level 1 Refereeing Courses, Strength & Conditioning Courses and ongoing Continuous Professional Development Courses.

It is the intention of the club to pay the course fees and travel expenses of those attending.

As many of these courses are in central belt this may include occasional overnight accommodation. It is to cover all these Coach Education costs that we seek Aviva Community Funding.

We estimate this project will involve 50 individual training opportunities between December 2017 and December 2018 at a total cost of £2500.

Once fully qualified these coaches will be able to deliver safer, higher quality coaching sessions that will engage more young people and increase participation in sporting activity. This will provide both the coaches and the young people with skills for life and increase their health and well being.

Dumfries Saints Rugby is an inclusive organisation that supports participation from all ages, abilities, genders and ethnic backgrounds.
