Maxwelltown High School of Rugby

PLAYER SPONSORSHIP

On Friday the 12th of January, Rhys Halliday, a former pupil of Maxwelltown High School received a sponsorship of £150. This money is to allow Rhys to take part in all Dumfries Saints Rugby Club activities and have all the kit required – such as for coaching, playing and training. Rhys is a junior coach with Saints and helps out with the Maxwelltown High School of Rugby programme. As well as being a junior coach, Rhys attends Dumfries and Galloway College where he is studying Sport and Fitness and hopes to use this course to become a PE teacher.
Rudi Urbach, Rhys’ coach said that he is a “young guy with a lot of ambition who is looking to do something different”. As many have said, he is also “willing to learn” and “moving to become a club apprentice”.

Maxwelltown High School wishes Rhys all the best for the future and is delighted to support both a former pupil and school of rugby participant. Here is Rhys being presented with his cheque from School of Rugby Lead Teacher Mr Hannay.
